The Requirements

To be a strong fit for this Graphic Designer, Packaging opportunity, you will have:
  • 2+ years of consumer-focused packaging design / CPG experience in an in-house creative department or agency Quick question for you - click here
  • A bachelor’s or associate's degree in Design or a related field (preferred), or the equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Basic project management skills to work with vendors; the ability to push back as needed and appropriate
  • Extensive knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite; the ability to create assets from scratch (icons, illustrations, graphics)
  • Solid understanding of graphic design best practices

  • Understanding of basic packaging construction and how a design will be executed   
  • Experience driving a user experience in relation to packaging from start-to-finish that delivers results and connects with consumers 
  • Exceptional sense for color and typography; understanding of PMS color
  • A digital portfolio demonstrating strong visual communication skills and understanding of design concepts

The Role

Opportunity Snapshot
Reporting to the Art Director, as Graphic Designer, you will be responsible for the original creation of visual designs, including typography, logos, packaging design consistency, corporate identity, and signage. You will focus 85% of your time on packaging and the remainder of your time on marketing collateral. In addition to hands-on design work, you will leverage your strong project management skills to set up and communicate the printing procedure and thorough design specifications to packaging and print vendors at various plants, primarily overseas.

Your Mission
Daily, you will work on diverse packaging projects, managing the graphic design, communicating with photographers, copywriters and others to ensure design elements are in place, and working with print and production vendors. It will be important to understand each project's scope, how to organize the project and who you'll work with. Some projects are shorter, such as adding or removing a logo for one brand, while others are complex, such as rebranding 400 skus for a whole new look. At times you'll work independently, but you'll also work with your peers in a highly creative environment. Your essential responsibilities will include:
  • Utilizing computer design software to create visuals from concepts and ideas
  • Working with die lines for approved package designs
  • Translating/transferring concepts and designs using production specifications

  • Creating mocks to represent the final design concept
