The Requirements

To be a strong fit for this opportunity you will have:  
  • Bachelor's Degree in the field of Human Resources, Business Administration, Management, Sociology, or related field.  Quick question for you - click here
  • A minimum of 10-12 years of experience managing and/or directing operations within Human Resources and a minimum of 5-6 years of experience providing leadership to direct reports. Quick question for you - click here
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement HR programs and processes with a strong understanding of the end-to-end HR calendar/cycle  
  • Proven ability to lead a team of approximately 3-4 professionals consisting of various experience levels and disciplines (Compensation, Benefits, Talent Acquisition & Retention, Training, Payroll, etc.) and experience developing HR organizational structures and operating models.     
  • Experience and comfort configuring and maintaining systems to support operations.  Hands-on experience with UltiPro, ADP, Paycom and Time Tracking is highly desirable. 
  • Ability to rapidly learn and develop a superior understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives, and in influencing change as needed. 
  • Exposure to diverse organizations and environments (entrepreneurial start-ups to large, global firms).  
  • Exceptional project management and execution abilities are a must.    
  • Ability to set and manage competing priorities across several functional domains. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.    
  • Ability to present ideas in business-oriented manner and communicate with leaders who are new to emerging practices in HR.    
  • Proven relationship building skills.

The Role

Reporting to the Senior Director of Human Resources, as Director of Human Resources Shared Services, your mission will be to continue to develop and implement a business plan for the HR Shared Services function including driving the implementation of program and system changes, oversight for all procedures and processes, tools and metrics that optimize HR services and solutions, as well as manage the day-to-day operations of HR Shared Services. Our Shared Services function includes the following:
  • Benefits and compensation administration 
  • Health & wellness administration 
  • HRIS/HCM/Payroll systems & reporting 
  • Compliance, process improvement 
  • Onboarding and offboarding 
  • New employee integration
  • Policies & procedures

You will oversee a team that includes two HR Business Partners and a HR Generalist.
 
The ideal candidate will promote and encourage career growth within the practice of Human Resources Management. We will look to you to work across the organization at a hands-on level while demonstrating the ability to work collaboratively with all levels and drive a sense of urgency in the execution of policies and programs with a high level of quality output.  It will be your job to introduce and employ approaches and systems that are appropriate to each function and consistent with the company’s culture.

More specifically, your essential duties and responsibilities will be to: 

Operational Design & Management   

  • Lead the development of HR Shared Services programs and processes while ensuring alignment with business objectives; evaluate and build continuous service improvements to HR programs.  
  • Develop and maintain an HR Shared Services organizational structure that supports the needs of the business, contains appropriate talent levels, is right-sized for the HR Shared Services function and is positioned to support a high-touch culture.       
  • Drive team goals and objectives and further develop operating procedures; ensure HR Shared Services team is continually evaluated, developed and trained.    
  • Continually analyze, develop and execute the annual employee benefit programs.   
  • Ensure programs and projects are market-relevant. 
  • Implement new technologies and tools that improve the employee experience, adapt to business changes and improve operating efficiencies. Results should produce advanced workforce planning and analytics that empower HR to better support the business and create value. Train end users on new HR systems to optimize utilization.  
  • Partner with all HR vendors and Benefits Consultants to ensure effective management and collaboration (including vendor selection, contract administration, service level agreements, etc.).   
  • Remain current in knowledge and practice on all regulatory and legal changes regarding Human Resources. 
  • Complete special projects as assigned: identifies and clarifies issues and priorities; communicates and coordinates requirements; expedites fulfillment; evaluates milestone accomplishments; evaluates optional courses of action as appropriate.   

HR Leadership    

  • Lead day-to-day HR Shared Services while leading a team of 3-4 resources (HR Generalists & HRBPs) to ensure high service levels and strategic communication around Benefits & Compensation Administration, HR Systems, Onboarding & Offboarding, New Employee Integration, and Health & Wellness programs.  Ensure team provides timely responses and solutions for complex HR transactions, escalated issues, and customer requests. 
  • Manage and update HR compliance related policies, operational procedures, and guidelines. 
  • Partner with HR Leadership to establish goals, budgets and communicate ongoing status of key HR initiatives. 
  • Partner with Business Leaders to solicit input on initiatives and build consensus behind a recommended approach; drive change management across the company to adopt a shared operations model and act as a change agent to drive innovation and process improvements.
